Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s second-largest and most popular park, is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity, which includes forests, wetlands, and coastlines. The ideal visit period is from February to July or June to September, coinciding with animal gatherings near water sources. Established as a Game Reserve in 1938, Yala spans 151,778 hectares and features diverse habitats such as dunes, scrub forest, and coastal lagoons. It is home to the endangered Sri Lankan leopard subspecies, Panthera pardus kotiya.
